Mission Monday has arrived again! In case you missed the last one, Mission Mondays are where we release brand new narrative missions for Core Space to download for free. Mission Mondays will return on a regular basis. To stay up to date with the latest game content make sure you subscribe to this blog and sign up to our newsletter HERE. Raid VR! This week’s free download is the first from our newest member of staff Andrew (everyone say hi!), and is an idea he’s been working on for a while. Core Space can be all work and no play for our Traders and this is a chance for a break. It’s a one-off mission representing the latest VR fad – a video game called “Raid VR!” which pits two teams of users against each other in a race to steal their opponent’s objective and bring it back in capture-the-flag-style mayhem. Imagine it as something your Traders could be playing in an arcade while at a Trading Post. It’s like a real mission but you can’t die! Your Traders will respawn at their starting point and carry on where they left off. At the end the highest score wins! This mission requires only the Starter Set to play. If anyone else has a mission they would like to see featured here, send it in to customerservice@battlesystems.co.uk – we look forward to hearing from you!

    Core Space

--- update Character generator!: https://boardgames.tail-wind.de/wp-content/uploads/CoreSpace/CharacterSheet/

Raw Blue Fusion This week’s free download is something a little different – it’s a ‘Salvage Run’ for the Dangerous Days age. It’s a generic mission to be played between campaign games to level up your crew or just for a break from the story. Salvage Run is great, but when you’re running a veteran crew under the Dangerous Days rules and your ship is falling apart sometimes a Salvage Run isn’t enough! This mission sees your crew break into a Raw Blue processing facility to liberate some high-end ship parts and other equipment. Of course the Raw Blue will attract the Purge, and they’ve brought an Annihilator! The story may be generic, but this allows the narrative nature of the core rules to shine, especially with so many threats to contend with. Good luck! You’ll encounter a mighty Annihilator in this mission. You’ve been warned! To play this mission you will need the Dangerous Days book, Purge Outbreak Expansion, Purge Reinforcements Booster, and the Shift Change at MegaCorp Expansion, which is now back in stock! If anyone else has a mission they would like to see featured here, send it in to customerservice@battlesystems.co.uk – we look forward to hearing from you! It’s now even easier to create your own missions with the new interactive map editor created by Enno Welbers. You can find it on our Downloads page.

Factory Settings In this week’s free download, your crew will infiltrate a processing plant for one of the biggest conglomerates in the galaxy. You’re not there for factory work though – you have reason to believe they are smuggling contraband in their goods and you want in! This could be a big score. Unless you get spotted of course – if that happens you’ll have to fight your way through an army of criminals to escape, but then again that sounds like a normal Monday… The production line is overseen by Zed and his cronies…

Rough and Tumble In this week’s free download, your crew were hoping for a leisurely weekend on board a pleasure ship. Unfortunately, like everywhere else in the galaxy these days, the Purge had other ideas! The impact of the Purge attack has set the ship spinning on its axis. Your ship’s airlock has become disconnected and the artificial gravity is intermittent. You’d better get out quick! Quick! Fight our way out while we still can! The Secret of Sector 14 We thought we’d tease you a little bit this time. Next week we will start shipping three new Core Space products – the Dangerous Days book and the Shift Change and Rogue Purge expansions. This week’s Monday Mission focuses on the Rogue Purge. Your task is to break into a high security prison and rescue a crimelord, but he’s not the only one behind bars… To break him out you’ll need to get past the ‘experiments’ roaming the board, but if you’re lucky you may be able to grab some unique Purge tech on your escape! This mission makes use of the new Rogue Purge expansion and will give you a chance to pick up some rare Purge hybrid equipment! This mission was based on a submission from Guy Carmichael. Thanks Guy! If anyone else has a mission they would like to see featured here, send it in to customerservice@battlesystems.co.uk – we look forward to hearing from you! This mission and more have been collated and published in the new Dangerous Days book along with a new narrative campaign and lots of other exciting content. You can pre-order the new products HERE.

Come Out and Play… Like Underworld Infiltration last year, this mission focuses on the Gangers as the main threat. For the first half of the game the Purge will not arrive, and the streets will instead be flooded with hardened criminals. You’ve found yourselves in a bar in the middle of a terrorist attack, and you need to fight your way back to the ship. The Gangers have other ideas though, and will be locking doors in your face and even disengaging your ship’s airlock! This mission makes use of the Shootout at Zed’s expansion. This mission was based on a submission from Stuart King. Thanks Stuart! Shopping Spree This week’s mission adds a twist to the campaign phases of the game. Instead of the Trade Phase after the game where you can buy and sell items, this mission IS the Trade Phase! One of your contacts has given you a shopping list, and you’ll need to grab everything and get it back to them for a priceless reward. Of course, it’s up to you whether you decide to pay for the items or not, as long as you can deal with the mall security! This mission was inspired by an idea from Mark Dekker. Thanks Mark. Prison Break The 13th mission – unlucky for some, and in this case it’s one of your Traders that has been apprehended by the Galactic Corps. This mission is perfect for inserting into a campaign after one of your Traders has been arrested. This mission is also special because it started out as part of last year’s mission design competition. Core Space players around the world submitted their own custom missions and this year they will get to see their ideas in print. Yes, that’s right, all of the Monday Missions so far will soon be collated and published in a brand-new expansion book along with a new narrative campaign and lots of other exciting content. Make sure you are signed up to our newsletter to get the latest on our new Core Space products when they are released. This mission was inspired by an idea from Ben Chapple. Thanks Ben. If anyone else has a mission they would like to see featured here, send it in to customerservice@battlesystems.co.uk – we look forward to hearing from you! In this mission you will have to break into a Galactic Prison to liberate your crewmate, but it won’t be easy. You’ll need to team up with other crews and all sorts of criminal scum if you want to make it out alive! This one was written for the many Core Space superfans out there who have everything – to play it as shown you will need the three main expansions, a set of Detention Cells, and some extra clips. However, like all Core Space missions it’s flexible – if you don’t have the exact components you can switch things out to match your collection :-).

For the last time in 2019, Mission Monday has arrived again! In case you missed the last one, Mission Mondays are where we will be releasing brand new narrative missions for Core Space to download for free. Mission Mondays will return on a regular basis. To stay up to date with the latest game content make sure you subscribe to this blog (link in the bottom right corner) and sign up to our newsletter HERE. Role Reversal This latest mission is an example of where we took some models and terrain sets as inspiration, built a story around them, and added special rules to turn that narrative into a mission. Core Space is the perfect sandbox to turn any story into a playable game! In this case, I wanted to use one of my favourite terrain sets, the Medical Research Lab, and also to get more use out of the new Galactic Corps expansion for Core Space. Of course the Purge are an integral part of most Core Space missions and therefore needed to be included, but as for who was operating on who, I turned that on its head. I also took inspiration from some of the new rules being added in a new Core Space expansion coming in 2020, so they are hinted at here… To complete this mission, you will need to infiltrate a Purge base and rescue a Galactic Corps director who has been inexplicably abducted by the Purge. To mix it up a bit, I added a mechanic where the Purge start the game on patrol and the Traders can avoid conflict by being stealthy early on. I translated this to the map by making sure there was a route that the Traders could take with minimal chance of Purge contact. This was balanced by the fact that the significant valuables available on this map aren’t on that route, and you will be very close to the Mother if she wakes up! The mission should be fairly easy early on, but all the Purge that arrive will surround the objective, so you need to be quick to rescue the prisoners before there are too many of them! To play this mission you will need the Purge: Outbreak Expansion, a Medical Research Lab, and a Purge Reinforcements Booster. You won’t need the Galactic Corps Expansion to play this mission, but you will need it after the game, so this mission could be a good way to build up to adding them into your games.
